May-June 2010 Progress

Following a break for the Cambodian summer in April, work on Anuwitayalai Prey Srolit School started up again in early May.

Quite obbviously hampered by the monsoon season (which is now in full swing!) work for the past two months have been slower than previously. Still, though, substantial work has been done to the walls and roof.

If you've been following this project since the beginning, you will remember that the inital plan was to build the wall using bricks upto a certain point, and then use wooden panels the rest of the way. Unfortunately, there was not enough salvaged wood left to do this, and wood is not as easy to come by these days due to new restrictions to protect the environment against logging.

Therefore, a decision was made to build bricks all the way up to the roof. The results of this can be seen clearly in the photo gallery.

What's Next?

As soon as the outer wall and roof are completed, work on the interior will begin. See the main project page for future updates.
