February-March 2010 Progress
For the past two months, the focus has been entirely on building a 1-meter high wall around the entire block. This has been seen as a very important step in the project for two reasons.
To begin with, concrete and bricks at ground level will help to protect the students a lot more than the wooden panels did previously, especially in the upcoming rainy season. Secondly, a solid wall encompassing the entire block will help to create a psychological sense of permanence in the building, vital for the emotional well-being of the students.
What's Next?
Work on completing the wooden part of the wall (from the new concrete to the roof) will follow, and then work repairing the roof will begin. See the main project page for future updates.
